Training: The training subsection is headed by the Unit’s Training Officer who    collaborates closely with the Human Resource Officer. Details of this work are described in the section on Capacity Building on this website.
     
Finance and Accounts: This subsection is headed by a Senior Accountant and Grants Officer who provide support to the budgeting process, supervise cash flow, monitor expenditure, ensure that expenditure is compliant with set procedures, and that the required periodical financial reports are prepared. In addition to regular internal audits conducted, our activities are audited by our collaborators and by MRC Head Office.  

Procurement and supplies: At the main offices in Entebbe, this subsection is headed by an Assistant Administrative Officer who works together with a support team. They are responsible for orders, clearance, monitoring of procurement, issues of supplies and supervision of stores. The Unit has continued to diversify it’s  procurement of supplies both locally and internationally by incorporating new suppliers from United Kingdom, South Africa, United States of America, Germany and Kenya.

A market survey/tender for the local service providers was undertaken and a selection criteria developed based on the principal of ‘value for money’.

Over the last two years the Unit has procured considerable amounts of laboratory equipment, computers, stationery, field gear and furniture. An audit check done by MRC Head office auditors indicates that the procurement system and stores management were good.  more
